Drunkenness and Debauchery

let cheap fun times begin!

From an e-mail today:

“The following items were sold by and shipped from Shivam in package 1 of
this shipment:

1 of Set of 5 Stainless Steel 6 Oz Liquor Flasks”

This was the night of beer. Six in three hours, all free I might add. It’s great when your tuition goes to sponsoring some of your recreational activities too… I started the night at the Columbia Business School happy hour, which they hold every Thursday. From what I’ve seen, it consists of MBA candidates eating food and getting drunk… definitely something to look forward to in b-school. My photography club was also hired to shoot for Glass House Rocks, a Columbia undergraduate event in which our student center is completely decked out in lights, decorations and games. The basement of this student center is “Lerner Pub”, where those over 21 are able to get free drinks!

I just want to add that after going home very tipsy at midnight, I had to wake up early to get to my internship midtown. At which I was given free beer… again. Apparently that was the day when the company was supposed to announce employee bonuses, so they ordered pizza and beer for the whole office! I also watched my boss take a tequila shot and another co-worker take four. Such is the life of an i-banker…

mo’ beer

I’m at day two of my part-time internship. I’m on my seventh (edit: eighth) beer in last 24-hour window. (Best. Internship. Ever.)

99 bottles of beer on the wall

6 beers tonight. It’s not Friday, I know, but all the beers were free. XD. More detailed updated when I’m actually sober.

This picture is here not as a symbol of my weeks of interviews. Instead, it represents the last PGF that went down in Broadway, 10th floor lounge. Last Friday, I was faced with both the requirement of studying for my McKinsey interview and the duty to drink. Both Cindy and I decided that it was a great idea to drink and study for McKinsey. Needless to say, it was both the lamest night of drinking and the best night of studying I’ve ever had.
New hobby: a drinking game based on McKinsey case studies. Take a shot every time “market sizing”, “rising costs”, “declining profitability”, and “consumer segmentation” is brought up. Happy mock interviewing!

I took advantage of Restaurant Week tonight, spending a lavish 50 or so dollars on a 3-course meal (including sake!) at Lure Fishbar. The food was delicious and the company was great. The only part of the night that didn’t really fit was the eclectic music mix (“Jump Around” and “Lean Back”, what).

Cindy and I ordered food online before our routine night of drinking. (Never drink on an empty stomach!) A mutual friend was kind enough to give us a coupon and access to her food-ordering account. We took a peek into her food consumption habits and this is what we found.
